News Desk:  Very strong cyclone Mokha will hit Myanmar. Because of this, most of the risks for Bangladesh have passed, said Mohammad Azizur Rahman, director of the Meteorological Department.

He said that Cyclone Mokha will pass through the Sittwe region of southern Myanmar at a distance of 50-60 km from Teknaf.

This information was given in an emergency press conference organized at Agargaon Meteorological Department building in the capital on Sunday (May 14) at 11 o'clock.

Azizur Rahman said that the main danger of the cyclone will pass through the Myanmar region. The areas of Bangladesh including Teknaf, Cox's Bazar are going to be risk free. As a result, the risk we had with the cyclone from the beginning is not as much.

He said, the peak hour of cyclone Mokha will be 12 noon to 3 pm. During this time, the tide will flow at a fast speed. Gusts of up to 120-130 km per hour are likely then, which currently (at 10:30) is 60 km per hour.

The director of the Meteorological Department also said that the cyclone Mokha will cross us by afternoon, but its effects will remain for another two to three hours. And the greatest impact will be observed on the islands of Teknaf and Saint Martin. We fear that if the tide level reaches 8 to 12 feet, there will be temporary inundation of water in Teknaf and St. Martin. But gradually it will pass.
