In addition to the prison sentence, Feldman was also banned from operating the website for two years, OVD-Info reported. A court in Kaliningrad, western Russia, said the journalist had insulted Russia's armed forces in a series of posts on the VKontakte social network.

Meanwhile, OVD-Info reported on Thursday that the Moscow police arrested five journalists in the last 24 hours. Antonina Favorskaya is one of five journalists detained in Russia. He recently served 10 days in jail for laying flowers on the grave of late opposition Russian politician Alexei Navalny. Apart from this, it is also known that one of the detainees was beaten up. Under Russia's military censorship laws, those who make offensive criticism online or journalists who use information other than those provided by Russian officials can face years in prison.

Russia started the war in Ukraine more than two years ago. Since the start of the war, Russia has tried to ban, block or censor almost all independent media outlets in the country.
