Locals clash with students at Nazrul University

Correspondent: There has been a clash between students of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University and local hoteliers over hotel food. Yesterday, Sunday (March 17) at around 11 o'clock in the night, this clash took place several times. Trishal's Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jewel Ahmed confirmed the truth of the incident and said, "At present the situation is under control.

It is my responsibility to see that there is a problem with the hotel. We ourselves do not take the law into our own hands. I will have my own monitoring on such issues. According to the university students and the police, the incident started with Sareng Hotel giving rotten food on the street around the university. Later it turned into a conflict. Several students were reported injured in the incident. Besides, the windows of the girls' hall and teachers' dormitories of the university were damaged. During the clash, at one stage the proctor of the university and the police administration of Trishal arrived at the scene and tried to bring the situation under control. Police were on alert for the security of university students throughout the night.
