Israel Wants to Create Division: Masoud Pezeshkian

International Desk: In a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran places the highest importance on its relationship with Islamabad. He expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its support during Iran's 12-day war with Israel.

This was reported by several Pakistani media outlets on Tuesday (15 July).

During the meeting, President Pezeshkian said, “Israel wants to create division among Muslim countries. Therefore, unity and harmony among Islamic nations are now essential.”

He expressed satisfaction with Iran-Pakistan bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of diplomatic exchange and constructive dialogue, which, he said, will help enhance mutual cooperation.

Pezeshkian added, “There is vast potential for increased cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. We will never forget Pakistan’s support during wartime.”

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated President Pezeshkian on his “victory” and said, “Islamabad strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Tehran. Pakistan’s parliament was the first to pass a resolution condemning the war and expressing support for Iran’s right to self-defense.”

It is worth noting that on 13 June, Israel launched airstrikes on Iran’s military, nuclear, and civilian infrastructure, triggering 12 days of armed conflict between the two nations. According to Iran’s Ministry of Health, the attacks killed at least 606 people and injured 5,332.

In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks on Israel, killing at least 29 people and injuring more than 3,400, according to data from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, the United States carried out multiple bombings on Iranian nuclear facilities, claiming to have “destroyed” parts of Iran’s nuclear program. Eventually, the conflict ended on 24 June through a US-brokered ceasefire.

On the nuclear issue, Iran has announced that its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will continue in a “new form.” Iran stated, “Cooperation has not ended, but it will follow a new path.”

Iran has accused the IAEA of playing a partial role in the attacks on its nuclear sites, although Tehran has repeatedly claimed it has no intention of developing nuclear weapons.
