Discussion meeting on youth empowerment on Population Day in Kaliganj

Gazipur Correspondent: A discussion meeting was held in Kaliganj, Gazipur, on the occasion of World Population Day with the theme “Youth empowerment is necessary to build a family of choice in a fair and promising world.”

Assistant Upazila Family Planning Officer Mahmudul Hasan presided over the meeting organized by the Upazila Family Planning Office at the Upazila Parishad Conference Room on Sunday (July 14) morning.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Rezwana Rashid, Upazila Engineer Md. Rezaul Haque, Rural Development Officer Israt Jahan and other officials spoke at the discussion.

The speakers said that the role of the young generation is very important in forming a planned family. If population control, health awareness and women's empowerment can be ensured by utilizing the power of the youth, it will be easier to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The speakers urged everyone to come forward to involve the youth in the society in addition to creating awareness about modern family planning methods.

The event awarded the best service centers and individuals in various categories for their special contribution to family planning services at the field level.

Officials and employees of various departments concerned, health workers and local media workers were present at the discussion meeting.

It is worth noting that this year too, World Population Day is being celebrated worldwide like every year. The main objective of the day is to create awareness about population growth and its multidimensional impact and to build a just and promising society through family planning.
