U.S. President Donald Trump, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, was present at the stadium for the grand occasion. While it was widely expected that the President would present the trophy to Chelsea’s players and then step off the stage, Trump chose to remain on stage during the team’s celebration—a move that visibly left several Chelsea players uncomfortable.

Renowned Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano shared a post on his verified Facebook page quoting Chelsea’s standout performer, Palmer, who said: “I knew President Trump would be attending, but I didn’t expect him to stay on stage during the celebration. It was a bit awkward.”

Even the Telegraph reported that FIFA President Gianni Infantino had invited Trump to step down from the stage together, but Trump declined, opting instead to stay on and bask in the moment with the team.
