News Desk: The Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, has commented that leaders and activists speaking on behalf of political parties must be brought under control. He made this remark today, Sunday (13 July) morning, on his verified Facebook status.

Shafiqul Alam wrote that having 500 people speaking on the same issue to present a united image for a party is undoubtedly a recipe for a terrible disaster. He added that political parties in Bangladesh should strictly control the leaders and activists who speak on behalf of the party.

When leaders, officials, and workers from various levels participate in television talk shows or make overly emotional comments on social media, it leads to disorderly and unorganized behavior. This causes more harm than good. Such actions bring one disaster after another. Every day, they unknowingly provide critics with new material on social media to attack them.

The press secretary further wrote that people forget—we now live in the era of social media. In this era, speaking on behalf of the party requires trained, skilled, and smart spokespersons. Those who do not know how to speak properly should engage in organizational work at the grassroots level.

As an example, he mentioned that during the Trump administration, more than a dozen key officials were former journalists. They came to these positions because they knew how to speak as spokespersons for their respective offices.

In the final part of his status, Shafiqul Alam remarked that in this fast-paced and aggressive social media era, the future of a party depends on its communication strategy. It can either build a party or destroy it.
