Jamaat Amir’s Strong Message Following Youth League Leader’s Murder and Attack on the Khatib

News Desk: Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has expressed deep concern over the current law and order situation in the country. On Saturday morning (July 12) at 9:07 AM, he shared a post on his verified Facebook page highlighting two recent incidents to underscore his worries.

In his Facebook post, he wrote that after Friday prayers at the Professor Para Mollabari Jame Mosque in Chandpur Sadar Upazila, the mosque’s founding Khatib, Maulana A.N.M. Noor Rahman Madani, was attacked with a sharp weapon. He called for exemplary and swift punishment for the attackers, emphasizing that only such justice would deter others from committing similar crimes in the future.

In the same post, the Jamaat Amir also referred to the killing of a former expelled leader of the Jubo Dal (Youth League) in Khulna. He urged that the real culprits behind this murder must be identified and brought to justice.

Expressing his apprehension about the overall law and order situation in light of these incidents, he stressed that the Ministry of Home Affairs must take effective steps to maintain peace and security; otherwise, it will bear responsibility for the deteriorating conditions.

Earlier, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman reacted strongly to the public killing of a businessman in Dhaka’s Mitford area. In a message posted on his verified Facebook page on Friday (July 11), he said:
“Learning about this brutal incident in Mitford while abroad, I am left speechless. What era is this? What kind of society? In broad daylight, a humble, ordinary businessman was mercilessly murdered in front of hundreds, simply for refusing to pay extortion!”
