4 drug dealers fined in Noakhali's Chatkhil, one jailed

News Desk: A mobile court has fined four drug dealers in a raid in Chatkhil municipal town of Noakhali. Counterfeit medicines worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed. At the same time, a person named Nur Alam has been imprisoned.

The operation was conducted on Sunday (February 28) night by Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate of the mobile court Abu Saleh Mohammad Mosa. Maksuduzzaman, Assistant Director, Department of Medicine, assisted in the operation.

According to mobile court sources, the raid was carried out on the basis of reports that a company called Cure Pharmaceuticals was making drugs in the municipal area without any kind of license. During the operation, the company was fined Tk 30,000 and counterfeit drugs were seized.

Nur Alam, director of Roman Herbal, was fined Tk 10,000, Bangladesh Pharmacy Tk 15,000, and Prabhati Medical Hall Tk 20,000 for various irregularities in the raid. Abu Saleh Mohammad Musa, the executive magistrate of the mobile court, said the operation would continue in the public interest.
