News Desk: In order to protect hilsa, fishing in Padma and Meghna of Chandpur will be stopped for two months (March and April) from 12 noon on Sunday. From 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, fishermen were warned to refrain from catching all kinds of fish, including jatka, by miking in the floating fish warehouses west of Katakhali, Haimchar, Charbhairabi, and Megh rivers in the maritime boundary of Haimchar Upazila.

It was informed that VGF rice would be allotted to the fishermen in those two months on the occasion of the sanctuary and Jatka protection activities. According to the official announcement, buying, selling, transporting, and stocking any fish will be completely banned at this time. The government has declared a sanctuary in an area of ​​about 90 km from Shatnal in Matlab Uttar Upazila of Chandpur district to Charbhairabi in Haimchar Upazila. Hilsa roams the area for two months in March-April as a safe haven.
