The fire in Kotalipara burnt 13 shops to ashes

News Desk: 13 shops and houses have been burnt to ashes in Kotalipara Upazila of Gopalganj. The affected traders have claimed that about two crore rupees have been lost due to this. The fire broke out at the Mahua intersection of Ghaghar Bazar in the Upazila around 1.30 pm on Saturday. Nazrul Islam, in-charge of the Kotalipara fire station, said the fire started from the Sohag hotel around 1.30 pm on Saturday.

The fire spread in an instant as the shops were made of wood and tin. Upon receiving the news, we rushed to the spot and with the help of the local people, the fire was brought under control after trying for about two hours. Furniture shop in Ibrahim, Babul Sheikh's drug store, Biplob Mollah's garage, Kamrul's hotel, Zahid's hotel, Mahbub's workshop, Sohag's hotel, Omar's furniture store, Humayun's oil shop, Ramkir's home jack 13 shops including shops were burnt to ashes.

Affected businessman Biplob Mollah said, "Our 13 shops have been burnt down and the traders have lost about two crore rupees." Most of the traders are doing business with loans from different banks. If the government does not cooperate with these affected traders, then they have to sit in their way.
