News Desk: A speechless girl named Rahima Begum (20) was killed in a group of wild elephants attack in Bandarban's Lama Upazila. During this time, 5 houses were destroyed in two unions. Panic spread among the locals after the incident. According to sources, a group of wild elephants landed in different villages of Sorai Union on Tuesday night (February 23).

The elephants first started vandalizing the house of Abul Miah, a resident of the neighborhood. Later, one by one, the houses of different people were vandalized. Rahima Begum, a speech-impaired person, came out of the house to defend herself when she was attacked by an elephant.

Again, at any moment, the violence can cause damage to life and property. In this regard, Lama Divisional Forest Officer SM Kaychar said, "I have received information that wild elephants have carried out violence in some areas of Sorai and Aziznagar Union of the Upazila.

" Arrangements will be made by the Forest Department to compensate the disabled young girls and the victims killed by the elephants as per the rules. Meanwhile, the officer in charge of Lama police (investigation) said. Alamgir said the body of a disabled girl killed in an elephant attack was recovered and handed over to her family.

It may be mentioned that due to the food and shelter crisis due to deforestation in the hills, there are frequent incidents of killing and injuring in elephant attacks in Lama, Alikadam, Naikhyangchhari, and Sadar Upazilas of the district.
