News Desk: Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam has said that a decision will be taken soon after an inter-ministerial meeting on whether the educational institutions will be reopened due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic.

The information was given by the cabinet secretary in response to a question at a briefing after the cabinet meeting at the secretariat on Monday (February 22).

Earlier, a virtual cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. From the Ganobhaban, the Prime Minister and Ministers from the Cabinet Division in the Secretariat attended the meeting via video conference.

Asked if there was a decision in the cabinet meeting on reopening educational institutions, especially universities, the cabinet secretary said, "It has been discussed." The Ministry of Education has been asked to come to a decision after calling all concerned. They will preview whether we will open (the educational institution) and when. Whether it can be opened quickly or not, how to open it - so that the safety is right, at the same time the study is done.

Because it's been so long. Virtual educational institutions are open in other countries. From that point of view, the Hon'ble Prime Minister has given instructions - you sit down and think whether we can open it.

' "No date has been mentioned," he said. It seems to us .... in the villages we have seen children moving a little freely. What he (the Prime Minister) has said is that teachers and staff must first confirm the vaccine. ' Students are entering Jahangirnagar, Dhaka University, and other universities when the gate is broken.

Asked if there was any discussion on the issue, Khandaker Anwarul said, "It was not discussed. However, it has been discussed that the safety of residential students, in particular, is the biggest risk. They have been asked to see how to open a school-college with safety measures. ' However, the Cabinet Secretary said, "If not this week, we will sit next Sunday-Monday, God willing." I will be able to make a decision with the help of experts, law enforcement, and the administration.

' "What can we say? The government is taking steps to prepare for the opening of educational institutions," said Khandaker Anwarul Islam. "The government is considering the matter." The government has decided to preview the opening environment.

He added, "We will sit in a meeting in 5-6 days, God willing. It will be an inter-ministerial meeting. Because it will take many. '
