News Desk: Pahela Falgun, Valentine's Day and International Mother Language Day, three consecutive days in a month, the demand for flowers increased several times in February. Flower growers and traders from all over the country do business worth Tk 14 to 15 crore in this one month. Farmers and traders are fearing that business worth crores of rupees will be lost due to these three days of epidemic.

Even after this, there is a smile on the faces of flower growers and traders. The reason for this laughter is that the stagnant business has become active. Traders and farmers claim that when the outbreak of corona started in March last year, the flower business came to a standstill. Somewhere sales come down to zero. Many flower traders closed down their establishments.

Gradually the situation is improving. Flower sales have skyrocketed, especially around February. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. Again the price of flowers is also low. Delwar Hossain, a florist in Gazipur, said, "I have grown roses and gerberas on about five bighas of land. Corona caused us a lot of damage last year. The market has been a bit better over the last three or four days. I hope I will sell flowers worth Rs 5 to 6 lakh this February. I go myself and sell flowers in Dhaka's Shahbagh and Agargaon every day.

Now flowers worth Tk 10,000 to Tk 15,000 are being sold every day. ' He said, in February last year, I sold flowers for 15 lakh rupees. Business was much better. I also got good price of flowers. But when the corona starts, the sale kind of stops. I will not cultivate flowers, sometimes I made such a decision. But now that situation is no more.

The demand for flowers is increasing again. I'm happy with the low sales. Sheikh Selim Ahmed, owner of Subhan Agro Park in Narsingdi, said, “Our business went very bad last year. Corona has ruined our production. Farmers in particular have suffered a lot. It's getting better now. Flower sales have increased around the month of February. We hope the situation will gradually get better. "Normally, we expect to sell about half of the flowers we sell in February," he said. Where there have been zero sales in the last 8-10 months, it is not bad to be able to do half the business.

Demand will not change overnight. Hopefully, the situation is slowly improving. Various events are being organized. Ali Ashraf, a florist in Jessore, said, "Our business has gone very badly in the last one year." The market has been a bit better for a week. I hope the market will be good until February 21. Now the price of flowers is getting a little lower than other years. Hopefully this situation will gradually improve.

5-6 crore business will be in February. Shahbagh Battala Small Flower Traders Cooperative Society President. Abul Kalam Azad said, "Since the beginning of Corona, we have been living in extreme poverty till today." We are not ready for the first Falgun, Valentine's Day, 21st February. Because we have no business, no money. When there was no corona, we used to collect flowers and do cold storage. This year we did nothing. We are in trouble. He said Corona was not there in February last year. That is why we did business worth Tk 3 to 4 crore in February last year.

This time there will be no business worth one crore rupees. We have 51 shops in Shahbag, out of which 35 shops are closed. We did not buy or sell on December 14th, the day of intellectuals and December 16th, the day of victory. That is why I did not pick flowers on the occasion of 14th February. The situation on February 21 cannot be said now. "We are in a lot of trouble," he added. There is a smile in him too. Because the Prime Minister will rehabilitate us through the freedom fighter minister. The Minister has come and told us this.
