Akhaura mayoral candidate Nurul has been accused of kicking shoes

News Desk:  A supporter of incumbent mayor Takzil Khalifa, who was nominated by the Awami League for the mayoral post in the Akhaura municipality election in Brahmanbaria, has been accused of kicking another mayoral candidate, Nurul Haque Bhuiyan. He has lodged a written complaint with Akhaura police station. The incident took place at Sarak Bazar of Upazila Sadar around 10:15 pm on Wednesday.

Nurul Haque Bhuiyan is a three-time chairman of Akhaura South Union Parishad and former municipal mayor of Akhaura Municipality. He was a candidate of Awami League for the post of mayor. In a written complaint lodged with the police station last night, he mentioned the name of Sohag Mollah, a supporter of the incumbent mayor who was nominated by the party. Son of Quader Mollah of Devgram in Sohag upazila. Akhaura Upazila Juba League convener and current mayor Takzil Khalifa was re-nominated as mayor.

The Central Awami League announced his name at around 9.15 last night. Locals, mayoral candidate Nurul Haque Bhuiyan and sources said that Nurul Haque Bhuiyan was drinking tea at Saiful Islam's tea shop in Sarakbazar of the upazila between 9:30 pm and 10:15 pm last night. At that time, the name of the current mayor of Akhaura, Takzil Khalifa, was announced as the mayor in the municipal elections from the center.

A joyous procession led by Upazila Chhatra League president Shahabuddin Beg came out. Sohag and a few others behind the procession went to the tea shop. Sohag mayoral candidate Nurul Haque Bhuiyan was beaten with shoes as he was contesting against the incumbent mayor. He later lodged a complaint with Akhaura police station at night. Nurul Haque Bhuiyan said, ‘I was sitting in that shop drinking tea.

Ananda procession was held in the upazila on behalf of the incumbent mayor who was nominated by the Awami League. Before they knew it, some people including Sohag came to the tea shop from behind the procession. Sohag insulted me and quickly left. Sohag has done this as he is the mayoral candidate. ' Takzil Khalifa, the Awami League's party nominee for the post of current mayor and term of Akhaura municipality, said he did not know about the incident of kicking Nurul Haque Bhuiyan. He is in Dhaka. If something like that happens, the police must take legal action against the accused.

If he is a member of the group, then organizational measures will be taken against him. ' Akhaura Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rasul Ahmed said, "We have received the complaint of Nurul Haque Bhuiyan. Necessary steps will be taken after investigating the matter. According to the election office, six candidates have collected nomination papers for the post of mayor in the Akhaura municipal election till yesterday.

Among them are five members of Awami League and one member of BNP including the current mayor. They are current mayor Takzil Khalifa, Upazila Awami League member Mubarak Hossain, former municipal chairman Nurul Haque Bhuiyan, former Upazila Awami League organizing secretary Mohammad Ali Bhuiyan and Awami League leader Shafiqul Islam Khan.

The BNP leader and former ward councilor Joynal Abedni alias Abdu collected nomination papers for the post of mayor. Incidentally, the next Akhaura municipality election on February 14. January 18 is the last time to submit nomination papers. The total number of voters in the municipality is 26,910. Of these, 14,231 are male voters and 14,069 are female voters.
