News Desk: Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Roads, Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that those who are contesting as independent candidates against the party's nominees in the local government elections will not be nominated in future. He also called upon all concerned to refrain from activities against the discipline and interests of the party. He said this at a regular briefing at the government residence on Thursday morning.

Obaidul Quader said, "Awami League is a big political party. It is normal to have more than one worthy candidate to get party nomination in any election." Therefore, there is an opportunity for those who are deprived of nomination to be evaluated organizationally according to their qualifications. He said, "There are separate nomination boards headed by Sheikh Hasina and senior leaders of the party to finalize the Awami League candidates in each election.

" One is local government, the other is parliamentary. According to the constitution of the organization, the party nomination is finalized considering the views of the grassroots leaders, recommendations of the concerned district and upazila level leaders, government-private and party survey reports as well as the qualifications, sacrifices and popularity of the candidates.

There are allegations that some responsible party leaders and people's representatives are helping the rebel candidates of the party. Instructing them to refrain from these anti-organizational activities, the general secretary of the Awami League said, "Otherwise, strict organizational measures will be taken for the crime of being involved in anti-organizational activities."
