Xi Jinping congratulates UN to observe the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

CNI Desk: On December Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of congratulation to a meeting held by the United Nations UN to observe the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

President Xi pointed out in his message that the Palestinian issue is the root problem of the Middle East issues, which is of great concern for regional peace and stability, for international fairness and justice, and for human conscience and morality. To realize peaceful coexistence as neighbors between Palestine and Israel is not only a dream of the Palestinian and Israeli people for generations, but also a sincere aspiration of people in all nations in the region as well as the international community. The international community should stick to the right direction of the two-state solution and make efforts to promote the peace process in the Middle East on the basis of international consensus such as relevant UN resolutions and the principle of land for peace. Under current circumstances, the international community should pay more attention to the grave challenges brought by COVID-19 to Palestine and help the Palestinian people fight against the pandemic.

President Xi stressed that China attaches great importance to the Palestinian issue, always upholds international justice and morality, and supports the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore the legitimate rights of their nation as well as efforts conducive to the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, China has provided multiple batches of anti-epidemic assistance to Palestine through bilateral and multilateral channels. China, a good friend of Palestine, will continue to offer help in its capacity. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a responsible major country, China is ready to continue to work with the international community to make unremitting efforts for thorough, just and permanent settlement of the Palestinian issue at an early date, and make positive contributions to an early realization of peace, stability and development in the Middle East region.
