News Desk: Education Minister Dipu Moni has said that new students will be admitted in government and private schools from first to eighth class through lottery. He made the remarks at a press conference on Wednesday (November 25) at noon.

This year the catchment area will be 50 per cent instead of 40 per cent. In case of cluster based admission, five schools will be selected in lottery.

It is learned that lottery is conducted for admission of first class and admission test for second to eighth class every year. However, due to Corona, the admission test will be canceled in the new academic year (in 2021) and students will be admitted in all classes through lottery. Student admission forms will be sold online.

After that, the school authorities will check and select it for the lottery. Students will be admitted by organizing lottery in multiple steps. Lottery results will be published on their respective school websites.

Mominul Rashid, Additional Secretary, Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Education, said private schools would admit new students at all levels through lottery from first to eighth grade. This method has been chosen to take precaution against the risk of corona. Admission policy may be issued this week.
