In Chapainawabganj, the death toll rose to 9 when a paddy trolley overturned in a ditch

News Desk: The death toll has risen to nine when a paddy trolley overturned and fell into a ditch in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj. Four more workers were injured in the accident. The deceased were identified as Abul Kashem, son of Nowshad Ali of Baliadighi village in Sonamasjid of Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj, Babu, son of Iman Ali of the same area, Tajakul and his son Mithun. Kabil's son Qayem, Amanur's son Shishu, Rehman's son Ataur Rahman. The identities of the other two killed were not known.

According to local and fire service sources, the workers were going to Baliadighi of Sonamasjid in a trolley after cutting paddy from Naogaon at around 5 am. Seven workers were killed and six others injured when a trolley overturned and fell into a ditch near a broken bridge on the way. Later, two more died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Others are being treated at Shibganj Hospital and Chapainawabganj Hospital. Shibganj Police Station SI Azim said all the victims were paddy workers of Baliadighi village of Sonamasjid. Azim said Shibganj Fire Service officer Quader Siddique's unit went to the spot and rescued the injured and took them to the Upazila Hospital. Later, Shibganj police reached the spot and collected the list of the dead.
