17 drug addicts and gamblers arrested in Joypurhat

Joypurhat Correspondent: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) -5 arrested 16 drug addicts and gamblers in different areas of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila. They were detained in a raid on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrested drug users are Enamul Haque (43), Waresh Ali (35), Mohammad Shahid (24), Arif Hossain (28), Delwar Hossain (40), Jamal Mandal (50), Shamim Hossain (40) and Mamunur Rashid (35), Mansur Mandal (40), Shahidul Islam (35), Mominul Islam (40), Golam Rabbani (48), Mansur Rahman (25), Masudur Rahman (44) and Zahidul Islam (30) while gambling, Monir Hossain (25) and Md. Kazem (35) have been arrested. ASP MM Mohaimenur Rashid, company commander of RAB-5, Joypurhat camp, said a team from Joypurhat RAB camp conducts regular anti-drug operations.

Following this, raids were carried out in Buzruk Varunia, Khanjanpur and Jamalganj areas of Sadar upazila on Wednesday afternoon. At that time, 18 drug addicts and gamblers were arrested along with 6 pieces of yaba tablets, 50 grams of cannabis, 100 grams of alapata, a bundle of cards, gambling cash of Rs 1,675. A case has been filed against them at Joypurhat police station.
