News Desk: The University Grants Commission (UGC) will provide loan facility to about one and a half thousand students of Bashemurbiprabir to buy smartphones to keep them involved in coronary education activities.

According to the recent UGC guidelines for conducting online classes at public universities, only students who do not have a smartphone will get the loan facility, said Dr. Md. Sharafat Ali confirmed.

The student affairs adviser said, "We have given a list of 1,508 students to UGC for providing education loans." In view of this, UGC has issued a policy for providing soft loans.

A committee will be formed on Sunday to implement the loan program. In the light of the committee's recommendation, Tk 6,000 will be paid to the concerned student through bank account by January 31, 2021. The loan provided to the students is completely interest free.

The concerned student has to submit the smartphone purchase voucher to the member-secretary of the soft loan approval committee by February 10, 2021.

In addition, the loan amount has to be repaid by the concerned student after the opening of the university or during the study period in 4 equal installments or once. The UGC policy states that no transcript and temporary or original certificate will be issued in the name of the student concerned until the loan is repaid in full.
