News Desk: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader has said that the government is in a strict position to curb any crime including violence against women.

He was speaking at the inauguration of Bangabandhu Corner at the BRTC headquarters on Sunday (October 11th). He joined the ceremony via video conference from the government residence. The general secretary of the Awami League said that the people do not have confidence in the BNP movement. They have not responded to the quota reform movement, the student safe road movement and now they are focusing on the anti-rape and anti-violence movement.

He said the BNP has been failing in the movement for the last 11 years. If there is no involvement of the people in any movement then that movement is bound to fail. Quader said the government would not interfere in the peaceful and democratic movement, but if it wanted to spoil the situation in the name of the movement, the people would be resisted if violence spread. The minister said the 32nd span of the Padma Bridge has been installed this morning and the bridge is now visible at 4,800 meters.
