News Desk: The IPL will start on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates. Bangladesh left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was offered to play in the mega tournament by the two teams. But the promising bowler did not play in the IPL this time because the Bangladesh Cricket Board did not give him a clearance. Mustafizur, who was unsold at auction, was offered by Kolkata Knight Riders after Harry Garney was injured.

After Lasith Malinga stepped down, Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians also want him in their squad. But the BCB did not agree to release him. Bangladesh will play the first of a three-Test series against Sri Lanka from October 24. And keeping that series in mind, BCB wants to keep their best fast bowler healthy. And that is why they did not give NOC to Mustafizur to play in IPL. Akram Khan, the head of the BCB's cricket management division, said the reason for not giving Mustafiz a no-objection letter was that the IPL franchise had sent a proposal to take him a few days ago.

Our important series ahead. Mostafiz is our important player. He was not given a no-objection letter considering the national team. Mustafiz himself informed about the matter on Saturday (September 5). "The Kolkata Knight Riders offered me a place last month," he said. The Mumbai Indians also made an offer last month. They informed the BCB about taking me to the team. But the BCB did not make them because the Sri Lanka series is ahead. Mustafizur Rahman has been playing in IPL since 2016. He took 17 wickets in 16 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad that year.

The Mumbai Indians bought him at auction the following year. But he did not get much chance in the Mumbai team in two years. He got seven wickets in just 6 matches. Mustafizur remained unsold in this auction. In the end, he got a call from Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, but he is not playing in the IPL as he has not been cleared by his country's cricket board.
