CNI Desk: University Grants Commission (UGC) said government mobile operator-Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd will provide students of public and private universities with internet bandwidth at low cost.

The learners of 42 public and 68 private universities, using the UGC-run Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) platform to run online classes, will get the facilities, said UGC Director Samsul Arefin.

In a statement, the UGC said the students will be able to participate in the online classes through Zoom application.

Students under Teletalk network will get the facility recharging Tk 100 per month.

The recharged money will be deposited to the original accounts of the students and spent for voice call and data.

Unused money will be added to the next recharge. However, the condition will not apply to the students having balance below Tk 100.

On July 21, Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) sent a letter to all mobile operators including Teletalk seeking cooperation in this regard.
