Sports Desk: Neymar moved very close to the Champions League. But the boat sank on the shore of PSG, along with him. The taste of being the best in Europe is no longer taken. The Brazilian star received a big piece of bad news before the wounds of the Champions League dried up.

Nike, a world-renowned sports goods manufacturer, is no longer in touch with him. Neymar has been Nike's brand ambassador since 2011. It is learned that the two sides are separating due to the inability to reach an agreement on the new agreement.

Nike spokesman Joss Benedict told AFP: "Neymar is no longer Nike's sports personality, that's for sure."

Nike has been in talks with Neymar's communications team for the past few months. Nike did not respond to Neymar's call for an extension of the contract. Neymar's contract with Nike was worth 105 million dollars.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo reported that Neymar could sign a new contract with Puma, another world-renowned sporting goods company, after Nike's departure. Though discussions are going on in this regard, the final thing is not known yet. Puma also declined to comment.

Despite losing the Champions League title or a contract with Nike, Neymar still holds the record for the most expensive transfer in the world. In 2017, he signed for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for a transfer fee of 220 million euros from Barcelona. The PSG star is currently the seventh richest sports personality in the world, according to business magazine Forbes. His annual income is 9 crore 55 lakh Euros.

Neymar spread the light from the Brazilian club Santos. While there, he tied the knot with Nike. He signed for Barcelona from Santos in 2013. With his huge popularity through social media, his unique football skills quickly made him one of the top stars in the world.

However, Neymar has damaged his brand for various reasons. When he came to PSG from Barcelona in 2017, he got involved in tax related problems. The recent rape allegations hurt Neymar immensely.

The black mark remained even after the acquittal from the case due to lack of sufficient evidence. After such allegations, Nike expressed concern but did not leave Neymar's company. Nike is the official sponsor of both PSG and Brazil.

At the moment, stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Serena Williams, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tiger Woods are Nike's brand ambassadors.
