International Desk: Yahya Sinwar has been named as the new head of the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance fighters Hamas. Hamas reported this information on Tuesday (August 6). Aljazeera news.
According to the statement, the Islamic resistance movement Hamas commander Yahya Sinwar has been selected as the head of the movement's political bureau. He succeeded the martyred Commander Ismail Haniyeh.
On July 31, Hamas leader Ismail Haniya was killed in a missile attack on his residence in Tehran, Iran. One of his bodyguards also lost his life in this attack. Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas have vowed to retaliate, blaming Israel for the attack.
However, Tel Aviv neither admitted nor denied responsibility for the attack. The post of Hamas chief has been vacant since Haniya's death. So far, the names of various people have been heard for this post, but now the resistance fighters have chosen Yahya Sinwar.
Yahya Sinwar is 61 years old. Israel sees him as the main planner behind the unprecedented attack by Hamas fighters who entered Israeli territory on October 7. In this attack, 1,200 Israelis were killed and more than 200 Israelis were captured by Hamas and brought to Gaza.
After this attack by Hamas, Israeli forces started mass killing in Gaza in the name of war against resistance fighters. About 40,000 Palestinians have been killed in their attacks so far. Most of them are children.
