Attack on Russian-held Lysychansk in eastern Ukraine kills 28

International Desk: At least 28 people were killed in an attack on a bakery in the Russian-controlled city of Lysychansk in eastern Ukraine. The attacked building also houses a restaurant.

Russian officials said that several people, including women and children, lost their lives in the attack. BBC news. Russian officials described the Ukrainian attack in that city as a terrorist attack.

The Kremlin says that Ukraine is carrying out these attacks with weapons obtained from Western countries. However, nothing was reported by Kiev about this attack. The head of the Russian-controlled Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) said on Monday that Emergencies Minister Alexey Poteleshchenko was killed in the attack.

He was celebrating his birthday in a restaurant. At that time the restaurant was attacked. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the Ukrainian armed forces deliberately attacked the bakery. They already knew that locals traditionally gather there every Saturday for various goods and wares. Many elderly people and children also come there with their families.

Russia took control of the region in July 2022. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the army base near Robtyn village as part of his visit to South Zaporizhia region last Sunday. Earlier, Russia carried out massive drone attacks in the central part of Ukraine. The targets of these attacks were power infrastructure.

Thousands of people in Ukraine have been cut off. At that time, the Ukrainian Air Force said that Moscow had carried out a drone attack with at least 24 Iranians. The infrastructure of Dnipropetrovsk region was the most affected by these attacks.
