Shanto is not available for the New Zealand series

Sports desk:  Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who returned home from Pakistan with an injury, appeared in Mirpur Sherbangla on Thursday morning. Went to meet BCB doctor Debashish Chowdhury.

Shant is suffering from a hamstring injury. New Zealand series ahead and then the World Cup. He met the doctor on Thursday to see the depth of the injury. But there was no good news. For now he will have to stay in rehab for a week.

He will be monitored again after he is fully rehabilitated. After that, the concerned can decide the date to return to the field.

But it is almost certain that he will not be available for the New Zealand series starting from the third week of the month. Even if the injury is not serious, it may take 3 to 4 weeks to return to the field. Bangladesh's first match in the World Cup is against Afghanistan on October 7. The aim for now is to get him fit before that match.

About his injury, Bangladesh team's physio Bayejidul Islam said, 'MRI scan showed that his muscles are torn. He will return home to start the rehabilitation process and prepare for the World Cup.'
