He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the consultative workshop titled 'Gendered Hate Speech and Bangladesh Delta Plan 2022' organized by UNDP at the Cabinet Room of the National Parliament on September 5 (Tuesday).

Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury MP said, hate speech existed in the society for ages. Along with the evolution of the society, the violence of the negative comments is increasing on the basis of religion-caste, men-women and country-time-caste. He said, the culture of racism cannot be prevented by laws alone.

He said that students should be made aware of hate speech and racism in all educational institutions. Children need to be taught to show genuine respect for certain people and things. He said, it should be ensured that men and women can work with equal dignity in the family-society or workplace.
