News Desk:  Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has commented that Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has taken the side of digital platform informants and criminals by speaking against the Digital Security Act. He said this while condemning and protesting the speech of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a statement on Tuesday (May 9).

Obaidul Quader said, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said 'elections cannot be made by force'. Awami League has always trusted the people's judgment and came to power through democratic process. Awami League has never tried to grab state power by showing force by disrupting the democratic process.

He said, history testifies that the military dictatorship Ziaur Rahman seized power by disrupting the democratic process and subverting the constitutional spirit. BNP is a political party founded in the military camp with the doctrine of military rule. So BNP has repeatedly tried to usurp state power by showing force. BNP's failed strategy of repeatedly capturing power by arbitrarily using the state machinery has hampered the country's democratic progress.

Awami League general secretary said that the government has made digital security law to ensure digital security. Not intended to curtail anyone's freedom of speech. Sheikh Hasina has opened a golden window of potential for the media industry by establishing Digital Bangladesh. Freedom of speech has been given to everyone including journalists. In that opportunity a group is indulging in conspiracies by spreading anti-national propaganda on digital platforms in the name of freedom avoiding all accountability and responsibility.

He said that the government has enacted the Digital Security Act to curb all crimes committed through digital media including anti-national activities. Countries around the world have digital security laws aimed at ensuring digital security. By speaking against the Digital Security Act, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has sided with hackers and criminals on digital platforms.

In the statement, he also said that the allegations of Mirza Fakhrul Islam about filing false cases are fanciful. If any crime is committed somewhere, law enforcement forces investigate it. It is part of the routine work of law and order forces to take action against a specific complaint against someone. And based on this investigation, the court takes the judicial process. BNP speaks against the courts and law enforcement agencies for political reasons to protect their terrorist leaders.
