International Desk: At least 15 security personnel have been killed in an attack by terrorists in the violence-ravaged West African country of Burkina Faso. The dead included Burkina Faso soldiers and army auxiliaries. Last Wednesday (March 22), this attack and loss of life occurred in the northern part of the country. This information was reported by the Reuters news agency on Thursday (March 23) citing three security sources in this African country. The attack was carried out by unidentified armed assailants. That area of the country is known to be a center of jihadist activity for groups linked to Al Qaeda and the Islamic State.

A source said the soldiers who were attacked were guarding water pipes at the site. These important pipes are often destroyed by terrorist groups. The terrorist groups have also blocked access to several parts of the north and east of Burkina Faso, where rebel fighters have dug up roads, besieged towns and destroyed water infrastructure. In addition, the entrapment is also hampering efforts to deliver food and goods to civilians. Of course, Burkina Faso's government spokesman did not comment on Wednesday's attack. Note that since 2015, Burkina Faso has been struggling to deal with increasing attacks by armed militia groups.

Most of these armed groups are affiliated with the militant groups Al Qaeda and IS. In addition, violence in the African country has increased and intensified over the past decade. And it kills thousands of civilians every year. In addition, recent years have seen an increase in attacks by jihadists linked to the militant groups Al Qaeda and the Islamic State across large swaths of Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali. As a result, hundreds of millions of civilians have been displaced from their homes in the Sahel region of West Africa. Thousands of civilians have been killed in these attacks and violence. In addition, more than two million people have been displaced in the Sahel region south of the Sahara.
