IT Desk: From now on customers can pay 32 government service bills using their mobile balance. Grameenphone and Aspire to Innovate (A2I) have recently signed an agreement to work on safe and secure payment methods. As a result of this agreement, payments for various government services will be covered under 'Direct Operator Billing (DOB)'. In this method, mobile customers can pay various service bills using their mobile balance in a few simple steps. As a result, government services can now be accessed easily and hassle-free.

In this case, customers have to select mobile balance in Ekpay payment gateway of Prathyan.gov.bd portal to pay the bill. Service fee will be deducted from customer's mobile after providing mobile number and OTP. To use this service, the customer must first create a profile on the portal by verifying the NID. Project Director (Joint Secretary) of A2I's ICT Department. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir said, "All Bank and MFS services have been added to our integrated initiative 'Ekpay' so that PTUji (Person to Government) payment can be ensured for payment of various public service bills including 23 utility bills."

He further said, 'Despite the growth of MFS services and expansion of agent banking services in the last decade, 18 percent of the adult population (especially in remote areas) remain unbanked. We have launched Direct Operator Billing (DOB) facility with mobile operators to increase the inclusion of PTUG payments in the government ecosystem. This is a positive step towards ensuring financial inclusion towards building a Smart Bangladesh by 2041, which will save time and cost and contribute directly to reducing hassles. We are keen to launch this facility for more government services to increase the convenience of citizens.'

Solaiman Alam, CDO of Grameenphone, said, "Through this service, we are working to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to easily access government services through our extensive network coverage across the country." He said, "We have taken various initiatives to ensure inclusion and make life easier for our customers. Kari, which contributes to our mission of empowering people and connecting everyone to their needs. I am grateful to A2I for all their support in making this initiative possible.'
