International Desk: Russia, China and Iran have started trilateral naval exercises in the Arabian Sea. Russia said on Wednesday (March 15) it had started naval exercises with China and Iran in the Arabian Sea. Moscow wants to strengthen relations with Beijing and Tehran, mainly because of the reality of the war in Ukraine. As a result, this exercise is considered very important. The news agency AFP reported this information in a report on Thursday (March 16). In the report, the trilateral exercise called 'Marine Security Belt 2023' has started in the vicinity of Iran's Chabahar port, the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Navy exercises will be held on Thursday and Friday. The Admiral Gorshkov frigate and a medium-sized tanker will represent Russia in the exercise, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The statement added that the ships participating in the naval exercise will "conduct joint combat maneuvers and conduct artillery fire day and night." Meanwhile, in a separate report, the AP reported that the navies of China, Iran and Russia are conducting joint exercises in the Gulf of Oman this week. China's Ministry of Defense said. All these three countries are known as rival countries of USA.

More countries are also participating in the 'Security Bond-2023' exercise, the Chinese ministry said. However, Beijing did not specify which other countries are participating in the exercise. The ministry's statement also said, "This exercise will help deepen practical cooperation between the navies of the participating countries... and add positive energy to regional peace and stability." Russia launched an all-out military operation in Ukraine in February last year. And because of this, Moscow has faced massive sanctions from the West. And so in the existing reality, Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to strengthen political, economic and military relations with China and Iran.
