Discussion on Strengthening and promoting Philippines and Bangladesh relations

Newsdesk: 12 March 2023 – Mr. Muhammad Awwal, Philippine Honorary Consul General to Chattogram, called on Philippine Ambassador-designate to Bangladesh, H.E. Leo Tito Ausan, Jr. at the Chancery.

Honorary Consul General Awwal welcomed Ambassador-designate Ausan to Dhaka and expressed readiness to support activities that can help strengthen and promote Philippines and Bangladesh relations.

During the call, plans and potential projects were discussed. These include knowledge exchange on maritime issues; facilitating the increase in traffic/volume of passengers from Dhaka to Manila, with the view of re-activating/operationalizing PH-BD Air Services Agreement; and exploring areas of cooperation to promote Philippines’ local weaves in and with the Bangladesh’s garments sector, among others.

Both expressed renewed support and continued cooperation on areas of mutual interest to further strengthen Philippines-Bangladesh relations.
