Foreign Minister of Argentina in Dhaka, opening the embassy in the afternoon

News Desk:  Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero arrived in Dhaka on a three-day visit. On Monday (February 27) at 8 o'clock in the morning, the World Cup winner Messi was welcomed by Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen.

Argentina's foreign minister will inaugurate the country's mission in the capital's Banani in the afternoon on the first day of his visit to Dhaka. Which was closed 45 years ago. After more than four decades, Argentina is again launching a mission in Bangladesh.

According to the information provided by the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs said in the opening ceremony of Argentina's mission in Banani. Shahriar Alam will be present as guest of honour. Apart from this, ambassadors and high commissioners of various foreign embassies assigned in Dhaka along with the head of the diplomatic core are also expected to be present.

After inaugurating the mission, the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Foreign Minister of Argentina will hold a bilateral meeting with AK Abdul Momen. After the meeting, four agreements and memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed between the two countries, including cooperation in football and agriculture.

An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that during the visit of the Foreign Minister of Argentina, visa exemption agreement on diplomatic and official passports, memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the diplomatic training academy of the two countries, and memorandum of understanding on football related matters are to be signed. Apart from this, there is a possibility of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in agriculture and an agreement on trade cooperation.

This official of the ministry said, due to the war in Ukraine, we have to find an alternative market. That's why we want to import soybean oil from Argentina. A MoU is likely to be signed in view of this.

It is known that on the second day of the visit, Tuesday (February 28), Santiago will pay tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi. He will have a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the same day. Besides, Santiago will also meet with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi. That afternoon, Santiago will watch a friendly football match of under-14 footballers after exchanging views with Bangladesh Football Federation President Kazi Salauddin.

Apart from this, the foreign minister of Argentina will have a business-to-business meeting with Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the top organization of businessmen.

Argentina's foreign minister will leave Dhaka for New Delhi on March 1.
