Bangladesh's progress in empowering women is commendable: Indian Assistant High Commissioner

Sanju Roy, Bogra: Indian Assistant High Commissioner Manoj Kumar said that the women's participation in all fields has been ensured in every state of India under the Women's Power theme. Where today women are playing a positive role in the overall development of the country through the equality of women and men, including holding responsibilities in senior positions in the administration. And in this regard, Bangladesh's progress in empowering women in the past few years is really commendable. Women across the country are today taking part in building a developed and smart Bangladesh that resembles India. India has always been Bangladesh's closest friend since independence. Not only that, the Indian government is currently working as a development partner of Bangladesh in continuation of historical friendship. Because the traditions and culture of the two countries have a strong bond with each other.

He said the above while addressing the chief guest at the reception and prize distribution ceremony of the meritorious students in the school premises jointly organized by Biswa Sahitya Kendra Bogra and the 153-year-old traditional educational institution Bogra Government Girls High School in Bogra on Saturday morning. Bogra District Commissioner Saiful Islam presided over the event and the principal teacher of the school Rabeya Khatun delivered the welcome speech. Additional Secretary of Finance Ministry (PRL) Arfin Ara Naz, Principal of Government Mujibur Rahman Mahila College Professor Zohra Wahida Rahman, Local Government Bogra Deputy Director Masum Ali Baig, Bogra District Awami League Vice President T Zaman Niketa, Shahid Ziaur were also present on the occasion. Dr. ANM Ehsanul Karim, Associate Professor of Nephrology Department of Rahman Medical College, Ward No. 3 Councilor of Bogra Municipality, Kabiraj Tarun Kumar Chakraborty,

A total of 781 meritorious students of 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022 including Additional Secretary Arfin Ara Naz, former student Judicial Magistrate Sadia Anjum and 2014 batch student Swarg Tauhid of Bogra Government Girls High School were felicitated on the occasion. In addition, Shyamal Bhattacharya Memorial Medal was awarded to 5 people on the occasion. The recipients of the medal are the posthumous poet Dr. Rahmatul Bari, Shajahan Sakidar in literature, Gopal Chandra Sarkar in education, Prisheela Murmu from Santal community and Shanta Mahmud in recitation. In front of the guests, the students of the school performed various patriotic songs and highlighted the success of the school.
