Newsdesk: Mr Thijs Woudstra, Charg D’Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands spoke at the inaugural of the ‘Learning from Puran Dhaka: The Urbanity of Occupations along the Buriganga” at the Alliance Française de Dhaka

The running exhibition is part of the “River Heritage: Learning from Puran Dhaka” led by the EUNIC cluster in Bangladesh. It is funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands alongside other partners, and will document the heritage and social-economic activities of Puran Dhaka along the eight ghats of the Buriganga river.

The exhibition inaugurated today is a running workshop with university students from Bangladesh, India and some EU countries. They are working in collaboration in mapping heritage along the eight docks (ghats) of the Buriganga river bank.

Throughout the workshop and exhibition, students will exhibit drawings, maps, sketches, observations, and photographs of old Dhaka.

Several cultural activities will follow the project throughout its length to inspire thought and curiosity about the old Dhaka's tangible and intangible heritage.

The running workshop and exhibition will be open to all at LaGalerie until Monday, 20 February 2023 and will be open everyday from 3 pm to 9 pm
