News Desk: Most people mistake stroke and heart attack as one. In fact, a stroke occurs in the brain, and a heart attack occurs in the heart. This brain problem is also called brain attack in addition to stroke. Stroke carries a high risk of death and disability. So everyone should be careful.

According to the World Health Organization, about one and a half million people suffer from stroke every year. About 5 million of them died and the remaining 50 million were crippled.

Recently DM Neurology (AIIMS Delhi) Dr. to make everyone aware of stroke. Priyanka Sherawat (MD Med) posted a video on Instagram.

There he told about the risk of stroke and various ways to prevent it. According to him, stroke is a neurological emergency. But due to lack of awareness, it is not possible to save this stroke patient. But a little awareness can save us from this disease.

Why do strokes happen?

According to experts, blood flow stops when some of the blood vessels in the brain are blocked or ruptured for some reason. At this time the brain cannot do its work properly. May result in permanent or temporary damage.

The name of this problem is stroke. In this context, the neurologist said, this disease can also be called the mal function of the nervous system. Complications like body weakness, headache, dizziness, paralysis, confusion may occur.

For any reason, when can there be a stroke?

High blood pressure or high blood pressure

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), many people suffer from high blood pressure. In this case, blood clots in the blood vessel often cause the blood vessel to burst. And that's when people have strokes.

Studies have shown that 4 out of 10 people who die from a stroke can be saved if their blood pressure is under control.

Diabetes

Now diabetes patients are in almost every house. But there is no alternative to keep diabetes under control. This disorder also causes stroke.

Uncontrolled diabetes can cause inflammation inside the blood vessels. It also increases the risk of stroke. Therefore, if diabetic patients are not careful, stroke can occur.

Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a waxy substance. There are two types of cholesterol in the body, good and bad. When bad cholesterol or LDL increases, it causes plaque to form inside the blood vessels. Due to this, blood circulation is obstructed. A heart attack occurs as a result.

Cholesterol also increases the risk of stroke. As this substance accumulates in the blood vessels, blood cannot reach the brain properly. Due to this there is a lack of oxygen. So if the level of bad cholesterol in the blood increases, make lifestyle changes to reduce it.

obesity

Everyone, young and old, is suffering from the problem of obesity. And when the weight increases, various complications are created in the body. Even fat accumulates in blood vessels.

Various studies have shown that having more than 1 inch of body fat increases the risk of stroke by almost 5 percent. So even if you don't keep your weight under control, you may have a stroke.

age

The risk of stroke also increases with age. It has been seen that the risk of this disease increases after the age of 55. After this age, the risk of stroke increases severalfold every 10 years. However, stroke can occur before the age of 55 due to various problems mentioned above.

What are the ways to prevent stroke?

Changes in diet should be made to avoid stroke. For example, to eat more vegetables. Also avoid drinking and smoking. Besides, exercise should be done daily. Control diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol. Only then will you be fine.
