24 killed as passenger bus falls into ditch in Peru

International Desk:  At least 24 people were killed and many others were injured after a passenger bus fell into a ditch from a mountain road in Peru. The country's police confirmed that the accident happened on Saturday (January 28) local time.

The Latin American country's transport agency (SUTRAN) also confirmed the accident in a statement, Reuters reported. However, they did not confirm the number of casualties.

A bus belonging to the Cu'Orianca Tours Aguila Dorada company was involved in an accident in Peru's northern El Alto district, sources said. This is what caused the casualty. It is known that there were 60 passengers in the bus.

The injured were admitted to hospitals in the popular resort areas of El Alto and Mancora, about 1,000 kilometers north of the capital Lima. Police said some Haitian nationals were among the bus passengers.
