News Desk: World Bank Managing Director (Operations) Axel van Trotsenberg is coming to Dhaka tomorrow Saturday (January 21) on his first official visit. In a press statement today, Axel said, 'The three-day visit will be followed by a public event in Dhaka on January 22 to mark 50 years of partnership between Bangladesh and the World Bank Group and to celebrate the country's significant development achievements.'Axel said, 'Human development, women's empowerment and Bangladesh has shown the world what can be done to dramatically reduce poverty through successful innovation in climate adaptation. The World Bank is proud of its five-year partnership with Bangladesh and being a part of the country's remarkable development journey.
I am looking forward to my visit and witnessing these achievements firsthand.” Axel will meet the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, senior government officials, civil society representatives and development partners during his visit and visit World Bank-supported projects. Axel will be accompanied by the Vice President of the World Bank for South Asia, Martin Riser.
