Helicopter crashes in Kiev, Ukraine, 16 killed including interior minister

International Desk: A helicopter crashed in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, killing at least 16 people, including the country's Interior Minister Denis Monastirsky. Two children are also among the dead. The helicopter crashed near a kindergarten on the east coast of Kiev on Wednesday morning. The BBC and the Washington Post gave this news citing various officials of the country. Interior Minister Denis Monastirsky and 8 others were in that helicopter. The First Deputy Minister of Interior and Secretary of State also died in this accident. 

Officials said the helicopter was coming down in the suburb of Brovary when the accident occurred. It was dark and foggy at the time of the accident. Initial reports indicated the helicopter hit a kindergarten before crashing near a residential building. Children and staff were evacuated from the building after the fire broke out near the kindergarten. National Police Chief Ihor Klymenko wrote on Facebook that the crashed helicopter was used for Ukraine's state emergency services.

He said 22 of the injured have been taken to hospital, including 10 children.
