Awareness program to promote skill based technical education

News Desk: An awareness program about technical education has been started by the Directorate of Technical Education. Its aim is to popularize technical education as useful for higher education among prospective students and to change negative attitudes towards technical education.

The European Union-funded International Labor Organization (ILO) Skills-21 project is supporting the strategy, planning and implementation of the programme.

This program titled 'Enrichment in Technical Skills' was first implemented in project-supported technical education and institutions in different areas of Bangladesh. In the light of that experience, then the work of implementing it at the departmental level has started. Later it is planned to be implemented in all technical educational institutions of the country.

Rangpur Polytechnic Institute has successfully implemented this program at three levels in mobilizing the local community, institutional activities and digital platform. Activities at the local level included hotspot programs and miking etc. Information and messages about technical education have been conveyed to hundreds of thousands of people. Another two lakh people have been connected through rallies, posters, booklets, information boards and various kinds of announcements.

A Campus Open Day was organized at Rangpur Polytechnic Institute today on 17th January as part of Tivate awareness programme. There were various programs like career workshops, capacity building workshops for skill development, skill exhibition and competition, job fair.

Deputy Commissioner Chitralekha Nazneen was present on behalf of the district administration. Rangpur District Chamber of Commerce President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu was also present. Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md. was the chief guest of the event. Sabirul Islam.
