Ambassador IWAMA visited the construction site of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport New Terminal

Newsdesk: On Tuesday, January 10, Ambassador IWAMA visited the construction site of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport New Terminal in Dhaka. This New Terminal is being constructed by the Aviation Dhaka Consortium (Mitsubishi Corporation, Fujita, and Samsung C&T) under the consultancy of NOCD-JV (Nippon Koei, OC Global, CPG, and DDC JV) with Japanese ODA. The construction work began in April 2020, and is being diligently pursued for completion scheduled in April 2024, The construction includes the Third Passenger Terminal, taxiway, tarmac, import and export cargo terminals, an elevated approach road, and a multi-story parking.

Recently, the exterior of the Terminal 3 has become visible from the road adjacent to the airport, and the construction is proceeding steadily as planned. The vast 540,000 m2 aircraft parking area, has been paved with concrete, and each floor and roof of the passenger terminal, which is as big as 230,000 m2, is now under construction. The terminal has been already pertly glazed. Ambassador IWAMA has also observed the safety training at the site with 10,000 on-site workers.
