Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection raids and fines in sugar market in Faridpur

Ehsan Rana, Faridpur: District Consumer Rights Protection Directorate has launched an operation to prevent excessive price increase in sugar market in Faridpur.

The raid was conducted on Wednesday (November 22) from noon to evening. Assistant Director of District Consumer Rights Protection Department. Senior marketing officer of the Directorate of Agricultural Marketing in the campaign led by Sohel Sheikh. Shahadat Hossain and 1 team of district police and related market business leaders were present and fully cooperated in the operation.

During this time, sugar wholesaler M/s Neela Dowl Mill and retail trader M/s Chanoar Store of Pansher Heliport Bazar were fined. 

Assistant Director of Faridpur District Consumer Rights Protection Directorate. Sohel Sheikh said, M/s Neela Dowle Mill was fined Tk 5,000 and M/s Chanoar Store was fined Tk 5,000 for the crime of not having purchase receipts of daily commodities including sugar, keeping the price of sugar high and not properly storing and displaying the price list. 

He also said that this campaign will continue in the public interest with the cooperation of Faridpur district administration.
