Entertainment Desk: The Appellate Division suspended the High Court ruling that Zayed Khan's candidature for the post of general secretary in the election of Film Artists Association was valid. At the same time, the court accepted Nipun's leave to appeal against the judgment of the High Court and allowed him to appeal.

As a result, the lawyers said that there is no obstacle in fulfilling the duties of the General Secretary in the elections of the Film Artists Association.

On Monday (November 21), a three-judge appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui fixed the day.

Advocate Ahsanul Karim and Advocate Nahid Sultana Juthi represented Zayed Khan in the court. Barrister Rokon Uddin Mahmud and Barrister Mostafizur Rahman Khan heard on Nipun's behalf.

Earlier, in view of Nipun's lawyer's time application on November 13, the Appellate Bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui fixed this day for hearing.

On March 13, the Appellate Division ordered Nipun Akhtar and Zayed Khan to strictly comply with the status quo order of the chamber court as General Secretary of Film Artists Association.

Earlier on March 8, Zayed Khan filed a contempt of court petition against Nipun Akhter, who was installed as the general secretary of the Film Artists Association despite the status quo order.

The chamber court stayed the High Court's verdict stating that Zayed Khan's candidature for the post of general secretary in the election of Film Artists Association was valid. At the same time status quo was imposed on the post of General Secretary.

Nipun Akhtar appealed to the Appellate Division against the judgment of the High Court stating that the candidature of Zayed Khan for the post of general secretary in the elections of the Film Artists Association was valid on March 3.

Earlier on March 2, the High Court ruled that the candidature of Zayed Khan for the post of general secretary in the election of the Film Artists Association was valid. The High Court bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khondkar Diliruzzaman gave the verdict by declaring the rule issued in this regard as correct.

Besides, on February 7, the High Court suspended the decision given by the Election Appeal Board by canceling the candidature of Zayed Khan. Apart from this, the effectiveness of the letter of the Ministry of Social Welfare was also suspended. At the same time, the court issued a ruling seeking to know why the decision to cancel the candidature will not be invalid. The court gave this verdict in view of the writ petition of actor Zayed Khan.
