A youth was killed in a clash over dominance in Faridpur's Sadarpur

Ehsan Rana, Faridpur : A young man named Jalal Fakir (40) was killed in a clash between the former and current chairman of the union. At least 25 people were injured, including one with a broken wrist.

It is said that the deceased Jalal Fakir is the son of Shukur Fakir of his own village in the upazila and a supporter of Aktaruzzaman Titas, the current chairman of Kristapur Union.

The clash took place on Wednesday (November 16) and Thursday (November 17) from morning to noon in Jatrabari area of ​​Sadarpur Upazila of Faridpur.

There is a tense situation in the area due to counter-attacks and vandalism.

According to local residents and police sources, there was a dispute between the former chairman of Kristapur Union Billal Hossain Fakir and the current chairman Aktaruzzaman Titas.

Because of this, on Wednesday (November 16) at noon, a person named Ghiyasuddin, a supporter of the former chairman, was hacked and his wrists were cut off by the opponents. Later Ghiyasuddin was sent to Dhaka in critical condition.  

A clash broke out between supporters of both groups in the afternoon over this incident. Several houses were vandalized during the retaliatory attacks and clashes. At least 15 people were injured.

Later on Thursday (November 17) morning again, people from both sides clashed. At that time, a person named Jalal Fakir was seriously injured by the opponents. At least 10 people were also injured. Jalal Fakir died on the way to the hospital.

Additional Police Superintendent of Faridpur (broken circle). Helal Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed the truth of the incident and said that a person named Jalal was killed in the clash. Police are working to control the clash. Details will be given after identification and investigation.
