10 jailed in Faridpur mother hilsa protection campaign

Ehsan Rana, Faridpur: Mother hilsa protection campaign has been conducted in Charbhadrasan and Sadarpur of Faridpur during the breeding season. In the operation, 10 fishermen were arrested, 1 lakh 10 thousand meters of current net and 2 kg of hilsa fish were seized. On Sunday (October 23) from morning to afternoon, Shahina Ferdowsi, Joint Secretary Fisheries and Livestock Ministry, led the Kotwali boat at various points of Padma river including Gopalpur Char, Diara, Narkelbaria, Akote Char, Shaitankhali, Char Nasirpur and Arial Khan rivers, Charbhadrasan and Sadarpur. The operation was conducted with the assistance of police and Charbhadrasan police station. According to Upazila Fisheries Office sources, the regular case of 10 fishermen arrested in the raid is under process and evidence of the seized case has been given to the custody of the Naval Police. District Fisheries Officer Prashant Kumar Sarkar, Senior Assistant Director Bijan Kumar Nandi, Deputy Assistant Director Shabnam Mustari and Upazila Fisheries Officer S.M. Mahmudul Hasan along with other officers and employees of the Fisheries Department of Sadarpur and Charbhadrasan two upazilas were present.
