'Green factories' are increasing in the country, this time 3 more institutions are recognized

News desk: Bangladesh is now an example in the world in the list of environment-friendly and safe factories in the garment industry. In just one decade, there has been a radical change in the working environment of this sector. The number of 'green factories' is increasing.

Following this, three more garment factories in the country have been recognized as 'green factories' by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). These include CA Knitwear Limited of Bhavanipur Gazipur, Silken Swing Limited of Baniyarchala Gazipur and Sultana Sweater Limited of Meherbari Mymensingh. The factory received three platinum ratings.

In this, the total number of eco-friendly companies in the country's clothing sector has increased to 176. Earlier this month, Gazipur's Aman Textile Limited got platinum rating and capital's Ayesha Fashion Limited got gold rating.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) director Mohiuddin Rubel confirmed the information on Saturday (October 15).

Just a decade ago there was only one number of environmentally friendly green factories in the country. Now that number has increased to 176. Bangladesh ranks first in the list of green factories in the world. Which is contributing to increase the export of this sector said the exporters. Bangladesh is followed by Vietnam and Indonesia in the list.

BGMEA Director said, CA Knitwear Limited of Gazipur has been recognized by USGBC on October 10. They gave the institution 87 points. Silken Swing Limited of Baniyarchala Gazipur has been recognized by USGBC on October 11. They gave the institution 92 points. Sultana Sweater Limited of Meherbari Mymensingh has been recognized on 12 October. The organization got 81 points.

Bangladesh ranks first in the world in building 'green garment factories'. 57 factories got platinum rating, 105 gold rating and 10 silver rating. In addition, four factories have received certificates.

Since 2001, Bangladesh has been receiving the lead certificate. The USGBC recognizes factories as 'green factories' based on several criteria including renovation, energy, water, waste management.
