Collision between UNO car and auto van in Roumari injured 8 including police

Md Hasan, Kurigram: 8 people including the police were injured in a head-on collision between a UNO car and a battery operated auto van at Roumari in Kurigram. The injured were rescued and admitted to Roumari Hospital. As the condition of 2 persons is critical, the doctor on duty referred them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment. The accident took place at Rahman Member intersection of Baraikandi DC road in Shaulmari Union of Roumari Upazila of Kurigram at around 7 pm on Monday. The injured are Ziaur Rahman (42), Zainal Abedin (52), Aksher Ali (45), Fazlul Haque (42), Fazal Mia (40), Mannan (40), Mizan Mia (32) and SI Ansar Ali of Roumari police station. Doctor on duty of Roumari Hospital Dr. Sanjara Islam Nova said that two of the injured have been referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment as their condition is critical. The rest are undergoing treatment at Roumari Hospital. According to local and police sources, Upazila Executive Officer Md. Puban Akhtar, SI Ansar Ali of Roumari Police Station, SI Jahangir, a team of 5 members including two members of UNO's security force went to visit various places of worship of traditional religions in Roumari upazila. On the way back to Raumari after visiting a pujamandab in Dantabhanga union of the upazila, a battery-powered auto van crashed at Rahman Member intersection of Baraikandi DC road in Shaulmari union. In the face-on collision, 6 passengers including the driver of the auto van and the SI of Roumari police station in the vehicle of UNO were injured. The injured were rescued and admitted to Roumari Hospital. If the condition of two of them is bad, they have been sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Acknowledging the accident, SI Ansar Ali of Roumari Police Station said, "I am alive because I was alive." This has never happened in my life. Officer-in-charge of Roumari police station MR Saeed said, after receiving the information, we went to the spot with the help of locals and rescued the injured and admitted them to Roumari hospital. In this regard, Roumari tried to contact Upazila Nirbahi Officer Puban Akhtar several times by phone and directly at the office, but he was not available.
