Rabiul Alam Ivan, Kushtia: The court ordered death sentence to one person and life imprisonment to two others for killing autorickshaw driver Sujan Sikdar in Bheramara in Kushtia. Along with that, the court ordered a fine of Tk 20,000 each and one year of rigorous imprisonment in default of payment. On Tuesday around noon, Additional District and Sessions Judge 1st Judge Md Tajul Islam announced the verdict in the presence of the accused and ordered to send the accused to Kakar Pahar District Jail. The accused Rakibul Islam alias Asad was not present in the court during the pronouncement of the verdict. He was immediately arrested and brought under the law and ordered the police to be punished. Rakibul Islam alias Asad, son of miner Yunus Ali of Alampur Dattapara area of ​​Kushtia Sadar Upazila, was sentenced to death. The convicts are Raju Molla, son of Ah Gani Molla of Barakhikhali village of Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila and Shariful Islam, son of Amjad Hossain of Kairgachi area of ​​Muktangan Housing Project-1. According to the court case, on March 28, 2016, around noon, Sujan Sikdar left home to hire an auto rickshaw. Later, when Sujan did not return home that night, when the relatives of the family were searching in different places, they found out through the mobile phone of the police of Bheramara police station that a dead body was lying in a bloody state in the litchi garden of Hashem Ali of Satbaria village. Later, family members identified the body. In this regard, Alamgir Sikder, the brother of the deceased, filed a murder case in the name of unknown persons at Bheramara police station. The investigating officer of Bheramara police station, Md. Shahidullah, after the investigation of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the court on January 10, 2017 in the name of the accused. After that, the court fixed the date of verdict announcement after the evidence in this case. On the fixed date, the judge of the court ordered the punishment of the accused in the case. In this regard, PP advocate of the court Anup Kumar Nandi said that the accused killed Sujan Shikder in a pre-planned manner while he was traveling by planning to steal the rented easy bike. The court sentenced one to death and two to life imprisonment as the accused were found guilty.
